Is 5G Damaging to Health?

Omni Communications • Oct 05, 2021

We are all aware of 5G. How can we not be after it was needlessly blamed for the outbreak of Covid by conspiracy theorists far and wide. But is it entirely safe or should we be worried about its introduction?

Omni Communications separate the fact from the myths.

5G works by producing a type of energy called electromagnetic radiation which creates EMF (an electromagnetic field). However, EMF is not new; you get electromagnetic fields from microwaves, scanning equipment and many types of electrical system. 5G does, however, use higher frequencies than previous wireless networks, making it faster and more efficient.

An upgrade is WiFi technology is not new, in fact 5G is just the latest rollout, so the term “5G” stands for “fifth generation.”

5G provides faster mobile communications. This is expected to support the increasing number of electronic devices and services, including virtual reality, driverless cars, remote surveillance systems, telesurgery and more.

So, is 5G damaging to health?

According to the World Health Organisation, research on the use of 5G is limited. There is however an abundance of research on the health effects of electromagnetic fields across the spectrum with varying results.

Some data suggests that EMF can heat tissues, effective cognitive function, cause cancer and affect brain cells, but this research is far from conclusive.

One thing that is certain is that 5G was not responsible for Covid-19 and certainly cannot cause viruses – there is no known study that proves any link between 5G and viral load.

So, 5G is the newest wireless network providing faster mobile communication by producing higher electromagnetic frequencies which may or may not affect health – there is no conclusive scientific study that proves either way.

It has become more and more apparent in recent years that the demand for faster communications and greater capability from our mobile phones and devices is there, and 5G will bring many benefits, especially in the areas of education, health and social care.
